I. Information about the data processing

Your data processed when using our website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose for its storage ceases to apply, provided the deletion of the same is not in breach of any statutory storage obligations or unless otherwise stipulated below.

Server data

For technical reasons, the following data sent by your internet browser to us or to our server provider will be collected, especially to ensure a secure and stable website: These server log files record the type and version of your browser, operating system, the website from which you came (referrer URL), the webpages on our site visited, the date and time of your visit, as well as the IP address from which you visited our site.

The data thus collected will be temporarily stored, but not in association with any other of your data.

The basis for this storage is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. e) GDPR. GIZ is obliged to store the data beyond the time of the visit in order to be able to counteract attacks against GIZ’s internet infrastructure and federal communications technology, and ensure stability, functionality, and security of our website.

The data will be deleted within no more than seven days, unless continued storage is required for evidentiary purposes. In which case, all or part of the data will be excluded from deletion until the investigation of the relevant incident is finally resolved.

Cookies

Our Cookies Policy explains what cookies are, how we use cookies, and your choices regarding cookies and further information about cookies.

Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in your browser cache.

EAC-GIZ website uses Matomo cookies on https://www.eacgermany.org (the “Service”). You have the option to consent to the placement of cookies or decline cookies in the cookie banner when you visit the website for the first time.

If you don’t accept our use of cookies, you can turn off cookies when requested initially visiting our site, in your browser settings or via the link provided at the end of this passage.

The EAC GIZ website draws on the services of Matomo (https://matomo.org/) to analyse usage data (which pages are popular and the amount of visitors). Information produced by cookies is shared only with the internally operated server. No other use is made of the data, and the data are not passed on to third parties. The following information is stored for each page you view:

  • Technical details of the browser used
  • Anonymous IP address
  • Date and time
  • Page opened/name of the file downloaded
  • Notification of whether viewing or download was successful

Temporary session cookies are used each time you view an individual page, to remember your preferences and make navigation easier. Session cookies do not include any personal data and expire at the end of each session, or after the completion of a user survey, which is conducted as a rule every two years. Information produced by cookies is shared only with the internally operated server. No other use is made of the data, and the data are not passed on to third parties. Cookies would be removed after 30 days automatically.

We do not use methods such as Java applets or ActiveX controls that make it possible to track your browsing behaviour.

Data is processed based on Art. 6 paragraph 1 a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with your consent to improve the company’s website. Users have the option of objecting to use of their data to analyse their behaviour. You can prevent the collection of your user data via the link below.

You may at any time lodge an objection to the storage of your anonymously collected visitor data, so that these will no longer be collected in future.

I object to the processing of my personal data on this website.

Notes regarding objection

For this purpose, a cookie is stored on the device, preventing user data from being collected when the user visits this website. In order for the objection to take effect, the cookie must be stored on every device used. As the cookie is stored in specific browsers (internet programs), the cookie must be stored in every browser if several browsers are used on one device (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox). Please also note that, if you delete all cookies in your browser’s settings, the objection cookie will also be deleted and will need to be stored again.

Contact form

When you use the contact form, we process your name and email address. The data is processed based on Art. 6 paragraph 1 b) of the EU GDPR for the purpose of receiving the query formulated in the contact form.

Data is transmitted to GIZ using an SSL-encrypted connection, which makes it significantly more difficult for unauthorised persons to intercept it. Similarly to queries sent to GIZ by email, queries transmitted using the contact form are deleted following a 12-month retention period.

Newsletter

Any personal details collected as part of the press mailing list subscription will only be used for the purpose of processing the subscription.

Your details will not be passed onto third parties. No use will be made of your details for consulting purposes, for advertising or for market research. If you cancel your subscription, all your personal details will be deleted from our database.

After you entered your email address, you will receive a Mail with a confirmation link. You can withdraw your order at any time. If you do so, all personal data will be deleted from our data bank.

The data is processed based on Art. 6 paragraph 1 a) of the EU GDPR with your consent.

Your details will not be passed onto third parties other than to data processors subject to our instructions.
